Difficulty accessing services in inner city areas

Some people who move to an inner city area have trouble trying to register with a GP and access family planning services. The NHS Direct Helpline can be useful in getting information about available local services, but GP lists may be full and walk-in family planning clinics over stretched. One woman described how she 'almost' managed to register with a GP .

Some  walk-in family planning clinics only open once weekly at lunchtime so you have to be there at least half an hour earlier to guarantee being seen. One woman said the walk-in system was not as efficient as it should be, and the doctors seem very young and inexperienced

Another thought that the doctors were very good but said that it's very time consuming and pointed out that 'it is very difficult to be responsible without any help' .
